Province reports 1,407 new cases and 37 new deaths in weekly report

The Government of Saskatchewan has issued their weekly COVID-19 EPI report which looks at data from Sunday, Feb. 13 to Saturday, Feb. 19.

There were 1,407 new cases of COVID-19, which was 1.2 laboratory confirmed cases per 1,000 people. The new cases were more than half of the number of new cases in the previous report.

There were 9,142 lab tests during this week in the province and the number of tests was just over three-quarters of the number of tests in the previous week. One fifth of the lab tests were positive.

Based on the new lineage results, there were 162 reported this week. Of the variants of concern, 100 per cent were Omicron.

There were also 37 new deaths reported, which was slightly lower than the deaths reported in the last report.

They also reported seven outbreaks in long-term care and care home settings.

Over 50 per cent of people 18 years and older have received at least one booster shot and those five years and older, 85.5 per cent received at least one dose of the vaccine.
