Ministry of Health reports 13 COVID deaths and 17 care home outbreaks last week

There have been 1,013 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the province between Feb. 27 and March 5 according to the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 integrated epidemiology (epi) report.

There were 13 COVID deaths reported in the province, which is 70.5 per cent lower than the number reported in the previous week.

About 17 outbreaks in long-term care and care home settings were reported this week have also been reported.

As of March 5, 85.6 per cent of those five and older have received at least one dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine and 80.4 per cent have been double vaccinated.

Among those 18 years and older, 50.9 per cent had received at least one booster vaccination.

More than 18.8 million rapid antigen test kits have been handed out in the province. They are easily accessible at 630 locations in Saskatchewan.

This week, there were nearly 8,000 Saskatchewan Health Authority COVID-19 vaccination appointments available, in addition to pharmacies throughout the province offering vaccines.
