Quad, chainsaws stolen from Morin Crescent

Meadow Lake RCMP are asking the public to look out for stolen items in the area.

The detachment received a report Monday morning that an individual had taken off with the recreational vehicle and two Stihl chainsaws from a residence on Morin Crescent. The property owners were inside their home and witnessed the suspect take off with their quad from the garage. Cst. Alexandra MacLean told meadowlakeNOW that it’s unusual for this type of incident to occur in broad daylight.

“The property owners were inside their home and saw the person take off with a quad from the garage,” she said. “They then tried to follow and decided to call the detachment.”

The reportedly male suspect, who was wearing all black, drove towards the Meadow Lake Golf Course before heading southbound near Highway 4. He is described as late teen’s, with a skinny build and narrow face.

The vehicle is a woodland-camo coloured 2015 Canam quad, which could appear greyish from a distance.

Along with reactional vehicle thefts, MacLean said they’ve seen an increase in Stihl chainsaws being stolen along with Milwaukee tools and other items.

“This goes with a recent trend,” she said. “It’s possible that the theft is connected to another incident, but with the amount of property crime in our area, it’s hard to tell.”

S/Sgt. Ryan How echoed the sentiment.

“ATV and reactional vehicle thefts are an increasing problem in the area for sure,” he said.

Anyone with information about this or any other crime can contact the nearest RCMP detachment by calling 310-RCMP or reach out anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
