The Northwest School Division raised Treaty and Métis flags this week.
A smudging ceremony preceded the raising of the flags for each of the 23 schools, in order for them to be displayed in or outside of buildings. Student representatives from the Meadow Lake schools participated by dancing and singing, as well as sharing the land acknowledgment.
The division thanked Elders Sid Fiddler, Rose Richardson, and Alex Mistickokat for their guidance, acknowledging the ceremony as an integral part of reconciliation.
