Meadow Lake RCMP arrested several people on Monday in relation to a kidnapping incident.

Police got a call that evening after 9:00 p.m. that a woman was forced into a vehicle against her will. An investigation determined a group of individuals assaulted the woman after forcing her into the vehicle.

The woman was able to escape safely and was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle in Meadow Lake and attempted to stop it before the suspects fled. Locating it a second time, they were then able to perform the stop and the arrests.

Five people were charged, four of which are in custody. Thirty-four-year-old Conrad Holowach of Arelee, 30-year-old Valanna Bell of Meadow Lake, as well as 31-year-old Tanya Desjarlais, and 43-year-old Lindsay Okemow of Saskatoon are all charged with flight of police.

Holowach also faces kidnapping with intent and assault. Additionally, Bell, Desjarlais and Okemow are all charged with failure to comply with a release order. Desjarlais also faces kidnapping with intent.

Bell appears in court on Thursday, while the other three appear on July 25.
