Meadow Lake Co-op changing Service Centre name, re-opening Goodsoil

Jun 13, 2022 | 2:23 PM

Residents in the Meadow Lake region have been tasked with helping to choose a new name for the Meadow Lake Co-op Service Centre.

The regional Co-op is taking entries till the end of the month to find a more appropriate title for the store. Marketing manager Diane Wagmann told meadowlakeNOW this is a decision they thought about years ago, as many people in the area don’t quite realize what the service centre has become.

“People when they think of the name, they think automotive,” she said. “Basically it was automotive and agriculture.”

“Now, we have everything in there, so much more than a service centre and an ag centre. We need a name that describes what our store is about.”

Picking the new name for the store will also result in a $100 gift card. Wagmann said the selection will happen late in the summer or early fall.

“Many of the board members are farmers, so they will be quite busy until then,” she said.

Meadow Lake Co-op has a busy summer ahead after the opening of the new Goodsoil Co-op location this week behind the old building. While staff have been overseeing the preparation for the new facility, they had the old building demolished this past week.

Wagmann said the grand opening will take place later this summer, as getting operations rolling is what’s important at the moment.

“They’re hoping to be up and running Wednesday or Thursday,” she said.

The Co-op also has it’s annual general meeting (AGM) this evening in Meadow Lake. Wagmann said there’s plenty of topics to tackle ahead of summer.

“It’s going to be a busy rest of the month,” she said.

Name entries for the Service Centre can be sent to contest@meadowlake.crs.

Meadow Lake Co-op is also hosting its Customer Appreciation BBQ at the Food Store on June 15.
