Man found dead following highway crash

A 71-year-old man from Onion Lake Cree Nation was declared deceased last week following a rollover on Highway 17.
Maidstone RCMP responded to the incident early in the evening on Aug. 22, which took place two miles south of the Saskatchewan River Bridge. EMS declared the driver deceased prior to police arriving, while the 63-year-old male passenger, also from Onion Lake, was transported to hospital to treat his injuries.
Members from the Onion Lake RCMP detachment, as well as an RCMP Collision Analyst and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service, also attended the scene. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
