Meadow Lake Food Bank receives grant for a new van
The Meadow Lake Food Bank is getting a new van.
Meadow Lake Outreach Ministries (MLOM) which operates the food bank, received a $93,932 grant from Food Banks Canada to purchase the van. The new vehicle will replace an older van that is becoming costly to repair. MLOM Executive Director Natanis Budnschuh said they put a lot of money into repairs.
“I’m tired of signing cheques for repairs on the old van. I think we have spent in excess of $15,000 on this van out here,” he said.
The grant will also cover the cost of installing a refrigeration system on the new van to keep donations at the right temperature. The vehicle will continue to be used to pick up food donations from around Meadow Lake. Bundschuh said if they can find the money to pay for it, they would like to start delivering hampers too.
