BREAKING: One Meadow Lake school evacuated, others on hold and secure

UPDATE: All hold and secures have been lifted and students from Lakeview Elementary School are returning to the school. In a Facebook post, the Northwest School Division thanked the RCMP for their direction and support.

CORRECTION: An earlier report stated that two schools were evacuated. The school division has since confirmed to meadowlakeNOW that only one school has been evacuated.

At the direction of Meadow Lake RCMP, Carpenter, Gateway, Jubilee, Jonas Samson, and TPEC schools are currently on “Hold and Secure” and Lakeview Elementary School has been evacuated.

The Northwest School Division said all students and staff are safe.

In a hold and secure order, all exterior entrances are locked and classes continue.

In a phone call from a school division official, they ask parents to stay away from Lakeview Elementary and wait for pickup instructions.

The school board said they will send out another update at 1:30 p.m.
