Hatchet Lake man charged with manslaughter in son’s death

Police have charged a man with manslaughter after a man died at a home on Hatchet Lake First Lake.
On Wednesday morning, Wollaston Lake RCMP said they were called to a home on the First Nation for reports of an altercation.
Officers found a man injured, but he was later declared deceased by paramedics. He’s been identified as Donald Mercredi Jr., 28, of Hatchet Lake First Nation. His family has been notified and Victim Services offered to them.
A second man was arrested at the scene. Donald Mercredi Sr., 56, of Hatchet Lake First Nation, has now been charged with manslaughter.
