Spiritwood woman wins over $250K

A woman from Spiritwood is a lot richer after buying a Poker Lotto ticket.

Cheryl Dumas originally thought she had won $1,000 after checking her ticket on March 4 at the Lake Country Co-Op Gas bar. She quickly realized the prize was actually $10,000.

It wasn’t until her husband checked the ticket that she truly found out how much she had won.

“About three hours later my husband was looking at the ticket and said he thought I won more,” Dumas joked.

The next morning she ended up scanning her ticket again and found out she had actually won over $255,000. This was because she spent an additional dollar to go “all in” on her poker hand.

“It was unreal,” she explained. “I’m still processing how I feel.”

The couple plans on using the new funds for some house renovations and potentially a new car.
