Meadow Lake property taxes due Monday

Jul 28, 2023 | 12:00 PM

The City of Meadow Lake has put out a final reminder for paying your property taxes on time.

Taxes are officially due on July 31st and any unpaid balances on Aug. 1 will result in a one per cent penalty.

That one per cent penalty will again be added to outstanding accounts on Sept. 1, Oct. 1, Nov. 1, and Dec. 1. On Jan. 1, a nine per cent penalty will be added to accounts still outstanding.

Mayor Merlin Seymour urges property owners to stay on track with their payments.

“If for some reason they can’t be paid on time, there will be a small penalty applied on a monthly basis for the outstanding amount,” he said. “So, if your taxes are due, it’s not a surprise. They are due at the end of July without any further penalty. Then, after that, there is a small penalty for not paying by then.”

The City does offer the Tax Installment Payment Plan Service. (TIPPS) which allows you to pay your taxes in monthly instalments instead of a lump sum.

For more details on TIPPS, you can complete an application on the City’s website.
