Expensive Fix

P.A. home damaged in late-night fire

Aug 24, 2023 | 1:00 PM

No one was hurt during a late-night house fire in Prince Albert.

The City’s Fire Department responded to the blaze on 12 Street West Tuesday evening and saw heavy smoke coming from inside when they arrived.

They were able to quickly put out the fire but not before the structure suffered significant smoke and heat damage.

According to the property owner, several items were also destroyed including a mattress. They also believe the fire started on the bed.

It’s too early to say how much it’ll cost to fix the property, though the owner believes it could be as much as $70,000. This is because they have other properties that have had fires and needed remediation work.

They also don’t know when the property will be livable again but suggest it could be a long time.

Meanwhile, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
