Saskatchewan’s population has grown by more than 30,000 people over the past year.

According to Statistics Canada data, Saskatchewan’s population hit 1,209,107 on July 1. Over the past year, the provincial government said the population jumped by 30,685 people, which adds up to “the largest increase in a single year in more than a century.”

In the second quarter of 2023, the province’s population rose by 8,567 people thanks largely to international migration, the provincial government added.

“Saskatchewan’s population has now grown by more than 200,000 people since the current government took office in 2007,” the government said in a statement.
