Meadow Lake RCMP made a pair of arrests during separate traffic stops last week.

On Oct. 15, an officer pulled over a vehicle on 1 Avenue W. in Meadow Lake and saw unstamped tobacco inside. During a search of the vehicle, officers found 13 grams of cocaine, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

RCMP ended up searching two homes afterward and found 14 more grams of cocaine and trafficking paraphernalia.

A 53-year-old man from Meadow Lake and a 34-year-old woman from Flying Dust First Nation have each been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The man was also charged with the sale, possession, storage, or transportation of tobacco that is not marked in a prescribed manner.

Meanwhile, on Oct. 20, officers pulled over a vehicle in Meadow Lake as part of an ongoing investigation.

They saw open alcohol and arrested both the driver and passenger.

During the search of the vehicle, officers found a sawed-off semi-automatic firearm with an extended magazine, ammunition, and a small quantity of cocaine.

As a result, an 18-year-old from Lloydminster and a 38-year-old from Meadow Lake have each been charged with unlicensed possession of a restricted firearm with readily available ammunition, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number.

The driver was also issued tickets for the open alcohol, but RCMP didn’t specify who was behind the wheel.
