Warm temperatures hitting Central Sask. this week

Nov 14, 2023 | 1:08 PM

Don’t be surprised if some people in Central Saskatchewan try to take their golf clubs out over the next few days.

Places like Prince Albert, North Battleford, Meadow Lake, and Melfort are forecasted to see warm temperatures for the rest of the week.

The average daytime temperature this time of year for these communities is usually around -2 C and -4 C, however, it’ll hover between 0 and 4 C.

Justin Shelley, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said it’ll get even warmer heading into the weekend.

“By Friday and Saturday, we’re going to see a bit of a warm-up with those daytime highs in the five-to-seven-degree range. Maybe some higher single-digit highs on Friday, especially the Battlefords area.”

The warm weather also means no snow. Central Saskatchewan isn’t expected to see much precipitation, however, the same can’t be said for the entire province.

“We’re going to miss out on a couple of systems at the end of the week that will affect other parts of the province,” said Shelley.

There’s a chance places like Prince Albert, North Battleford, Meadow Lake, and Melfort could see some precipitation early next week. It would most likely be snow as the temperature is expected to fall again.

“It looks like we could see at least a return to normal temperatures by early next week,” added Shelley.
