Millions In Medical Debt Erased After Woman’s Death

Nov 21, 2023 | 5:25 AM

Casey McIntyre, a woman from New York who passed away from cancer, has raised over $13 million to eliminate medical debt for others through a posthumous plea for help. Her husband, Andrew Rose Gregory, posted a social media message on her behalf, expressing her love for her followers and her intention to buy the medical debt of others. The fundraising campaign started through the nonprofit RIP Medical Debt, quickly surpassed its $20,000 goal and raised about $140,000, enough to buy around $14 million in medical debt. Casey’s husband was inspired by the burden of medical debt and wanted to help those who couldn’t afford cancer treatment.
