High school volleyball provincials wrapping up across Saskatchewan

High school volleyball in Saskatchewan will wrap up for another year following the last of the provincial championships set to be played this weekend.

They include the Boys 1A in Annaheim and Lake Lenore, 2A in Pambrun and Ponteix, 3A in Unity, and 4A in Melfort with ten teams competing in each of the four tournaments. Among those vying for provincial glory this weekend, some teams hail from close to home.

Joining Annaheim in the 1A tournament in Pool A are Rouleau, Frontier, Yellow Grass, and Choiceland while Pool B consists of Fox Valley, Lampman, Glaslyn, Lafleche, and Edam.

In the 2A, the hosts Ponteix will welcome Muenster, Wilkie, Meath Park, and Saskatoon Christian School in Pool A while competing in Pool B are Makwa, Birch Hills, Langenburg, Kincaid, and Cornerstone School from Moose Jaw.

The defending 3A champions Assiniboia will put their title on the line this weekend in Unity with the runner-up, Osler’s Valley Christian Academy, joining them in Pool A along with Clavet, Spiritwood, and Regina Christian School. In Pool B are Unity, Esterhazy, Dalmeny, Kipling, and Shaunavon.

Playing in the 4A provincial tournament and joining Melfort in Pool A are Lumsden, North Battleford’s John Paul II school, Yorkton’s Sacred Heart school, and Saskatoon’s E.D. Feehan school. Pool B consists of Melville, Humboldt, Meadow Lake, and both of Moose Jaw’s Vanier and Central schools.

All tournaments begin on Friday at 12 p.m. More information regarding game times and locations can be found online.
