Raiders drop heartbreaker to Rebels

Jan 21, 2024 | 1:03 AM

Wins have been hard to come by for the Prince Albert Raiders so far in 2024.

Saturday night in Red Deer proved no different.

Tied 1-1 with the high flying Rebels in the dying minutes of the third period, an ill advised Terrell Goldsmith pass got intercepted by Red Deer forward Ollie Josephson who walked in and scored the game winner on a wrist shot that beat Max Hildebrand glove side, leading to an eventual 2-1 Rebels win on home ice. Aiden Oiring had the lone goal in the contest for P.A. while Jacob Hoffrogge collected the only assist.

It was a heartbreaking defeat for the Raiders, who went toe-to-toe with the Rebels all night in front of a packed house at the Peavy Mart Centrium.

The latest set back was the fourth loss in a row for Prince Albert, while Red Deer continues to climb the Eastern Conference standings with their seventh straight win. The Raiders are now 19-22-0-3 on the campaign.

This now sets up a massive game on Sunday in Calgary, as the Raiders clash with the Hitmen in a matchup between two teams fighting for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Puck drop is slated for 5:00 p.m. with the pre-game show beginning at 4:30 p.m. on 900 CKBI.
