RCMP investigate homicide at Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation
RCMP are confirming a man’s death this week at Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation, is now the focus of a homicide investigation.
Early Thursday afternoon, at about 12:45 p.m., police received a report of an injured man at a home in the community. Upon reaching the home, officers located the injured man, and he was soon after pronounced deceased by EMS.
The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Dedrick Stick from the Island Lake First Nation (Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation).
Through their investigation, police determined an altercation occurred between a group of individuals at a separate home. Dedrick Stick was injured as a result of this incident, and was able to flee to the adjacent home where he died.
