Warm Days Ahead

Another warm spell coming to Saskatchewan

Feb 20, 2024 | 5:00 PM

It looks like Saskatchewan is going to be getting another warm spell this winter.

That’s according to Environment and Climate Change Canada which is forecasting plus temperatures for most communities by the middle of the week.

The 30-year average temperatures for this time of year are highs around -7 C and overnight lows of -19 C. However, over the past 50 years, there have been times when the temperature has been as warm as 7 C and as low as -46 C.

Meteorologist Terri Lang said people should be extra careful when driving and walking because of melting snow.

“That can cause some icy conditions in the overnight and morning periods.”

Northern communities such as La Ronge aren’t expected to see plus temperatures but should still see above-average temperatures.

Meanwhile, winter conditions should be back early next week.

“We do have a couple of weather systems starting to move through, a big change in the pattern just because we’ll actually see some wind, snow, and things we haven’t seen for a while,” said Lang.
