Town of St. Walburg hires new CAO

The Town of St. Walburg has a familiar face moving into the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) position.

Christine Seguin, who is currently the assistant CAO, will take on the CAO role starting April 1.

Mayor Nancy Schneider said the town conducted an extensive search and found Seguin to be the best candidate for the position.

“We’re very excited about Christine having this opportunity,” she told battlefordsNOW. “She’s well skilled and qualified. We’re very excited to have her in place.”

Seguin has been in the role of assistant CAO for about six years and is skilled in municipal administration.

Schneider noted the town had a competitive process and interviewed four candidates to find someone to fill the position, and Seguin was the top candidate.

“Our final decision was unanimous, and it came down to Christine demonstrating a solid knowledge of the municipal dynamics, combined with a strong presence in our community, which we really appreciate,” the mayor said.

Seguin will have an assistant CAO report to her, so the town is now looking to fill that role.

Since the prior CAO, Shiloh Bronken, departed in December 2023 for a position with the RM of Mervin, Ron McCullough has been serving as interim CAO for the Town of St. Walburg.

McCullough will assist until the end of April as Seguin moves into her new role and “grabs the torch,” he said.

Seguin said she is looking forward to working with the mayor and council, staff, and residents of the community in her new position.
