La Ronge man facing multiple charges after trying to drive into police
A 37-year-old La Ronge man is in custody and will appear in court next month after trying to hit police with his vehicle as they were conducting traffic stops last weekend.
The Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team (CRT) were on HWY 2 and had attempted to pull over a vehicle on a routine stop when the driver refused and continued at high speed. While police did initially follow, they backed off as the vehicle drove into a residential area.
According to a release from RCMP, the local detachment also began to search for the vehicle and found it on Jimmy Roberts Road.
Once the driver was told he was under arrest, he drove towards a pedestrian officer and the officer had to move out of the way. The release explained this time they did give chase and the driver did a u-turn before driving towards police who needed to swerve.
