Police seize cannabis, firearms in man’s arrest

Members of the Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team arrested a wanted male on July 11 and the investigation led to a second arrest and a seizure of cannabis and firearms.

The man was arrested at a home in Canoe Narrows. Officers located and seized two firearms, an axe, ammunition, roughly 163 grams of cannabis, a high capacity magazine, drug trafficking paraphernalia and a sum of cash.

A second man was arrested.

Kelsey Iron, 30, from Cole Bay, Sask. was charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, unsafe storage of firearms, possession of a weapon at an unauthorized place, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, and failing to comply with release order condition.

Iron was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Beauval RCMP.

Christopher Nolan, 24, from Lloydminster is charged with two counts of unsafe storage of firearms, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a restricted weapon with ammunition without a licence/registration, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, possessing a firearm contrary to order.

Iron and Nolan are scheduled to appear in court on Canoe Lake Cree First Nation on Aug. 8.
