Prete family donates $500K for Co-Op Centre’s Legacy Hall

Artists, musicians and all those who will use the events building of the Co-Op Centre now have a name to call it: Legacy Hall.

Kirt and Terri Prete donated $500,000 to the Co-Op Community Builder Campaign and according to a news release, the name was chosen not just for financial considerations but also the family’s “ongoing support and connection to the Meadow Lake community as founding members.”

As such, a plaque featuring the story behind the decision to make the donation will be placed at the entrance – the first of its kind for Meadow Lake donors.

“We are immensely grateful to Kirt and Terri Prete for their decision to support this transformative project,” said Mayor Merlin Seymour in the release.

“Their contribution goes beyond monetary support; it’s a testament to their belief in the power of community and importantly, legacy. This is a space that will be used and cherished for generations.”

The family’s vision was to create a space where it’s more than an event space but rather a “testament to community spirit and cooperation.”

The fundraising goal for the project is $6 million.
