Home stretch for Meadow Lake candidates

As the days to the municipal election tick down, the candidates for Meadow Lake are preparing their final efforts to reach voters before the big day on November 13.

Here’s a look at who is running in this year’s election.

Merlin Seymour – Mayor Acclaimed

Merlin Seymour still has work to do after being acclaimed earlier this election cycle. He was first elected to the position following a by-election in 2019. Over the years, he has seen a lot of growth and change. Seymour said he would like to see projects currently in the works such as the Co-Op Centre come to fruition.

Martin Bishop

A resident of Meadow Lake for 51 years, he has served on council for two and is looking to continue his tenure. According to his city election profile, he is the owner of a production company and is a strong believer in creating a strong business community and city beautification.

Ron Dishko

An incumbent councillor who was first elected in 2019. According to his city profile, Dishko loves the outdoors and works as the Meadow Lake Co-Op operations manager. Should he be elected, he wants to continue to help the city grow by working to invest in infrastructure, strive to make the community a safe community and said he’s proud to call it home.

Anne Duriez

Newcomer Anne Duriez is seeking to enter local politics. She has spent her professional career helping others and is looking to use her vast knowledge as a social worker to build upon the strengths the community already has.

Mike Ferguson

Another newcomer to city politics, Ferguson has lived in Meadow Lake since he was a child and now works as a general manager for a building supplies company. According to his city profile, as councillor, he wants to work at improving transparency and communication with residents and a fresh perspective.

Tom Harrison

Tom Harrison is seeking a third term on council and according to his profile, he is proud of the work that has been done during his tenure. Among some of these include improving infrastructure and said community safety remains a high priority.

Connie Marsh-Yuhasz

Connie Marsh-Yuhasz has spent her life in Meadow Lake. According to her profile, she is a volunteer with the Meadow Lake Hospital Foundation and works to create a positive impact. Marsh-Yuhasz believes in fiscal responsibility.

Dwayne Mysko

Dwayne Mysko has run before and chose to run again because he believes in creating a community where his children and grandchildren would want to call home. He said the city is going down the proper path and would like to see support for growing industry.

Conrad Read

Conrad Read is looking for his fourth term on council. According to his profile, he has lived in the community for 35 years and in his tenure on council has served as deputy mayor on a rotating basis. Read’s profile stated that his experience has contributed to fiscal responsibility and strategic planning.

Mauri Young

Mauri Young is seeking another four years and second term on council. Having lived in the community for 44 years, being at the table has been a learning process. Should she be elected, she would like to take an active role in future developments such as the opening of the Co-Op Centre and the 2026 Saskatchewan Winter Games.
