Police chase

Beauval man charged after police chase ends with spike belt in Prince Albert

Jul 30, 2025 | 11:01 AM

A 33-year-old man from Beauval is in police custody after an incident that started with a theft in Glaslyn and ended with a spike belt in Prince Albert.

The Turtleford/Glaslyn RCMP were told about a theft from a business on July 23 shortly after 2 p.m. Some fuel had been stolen and the suspects were driving a black car.

About 15 minutes later, Spiritwood RCMP found the vehicle on Highway 355 near Shell Lake and activated their emergency equipment to pull the driver over.

Rather than stopping, the driver fled from police at high speeds.

At 5:20 pm, officers from the Prince Albert RCMP saw the vehicle on the same highway near Sturgeon Lake but the driver once again did not stop and continued their flight.

When officers saw the vehicle entering the City of Prince Albert on Highway 3, they became concerned and for public safety, used a tire deflation device which the suspect then drove over, flattening all four tires.

The driver continued at a slower speed but then stopped. Two men and a woman got out and tried to run on foot.

The car had been stolen out of Saskatoon.

The driver is charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, obstructing police, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and one count of operating while prohibited.

The other two occupants of the vehicle were released without charges.
