UPDATE: Pierceland RCMP arrest woman wanted on warrants, new charges of assault on police

UPDATE: On Sept. 21, Pierceland RCMP located Ramona Ochuschayoo at a residence on Big Island Lake Cree Nation.

When attending the home, officers found a woman hiding inside. The woman provided police with a fake name, then resisted and kicked them during her arrest. The officers were not seriously harmed. Ochuschayoo was charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

She appeared in court Monday, Sept. 22 to face these new charges along with the other warrants.

Officers responded to a report of an assault on the First Nation around 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 31. A male victim was taken to hospital with what were described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators allege 31-year-old Ramona Ochuschayoo of Big Island Lake Cree Nation assaulted the man and have charged her with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a firearm while prohibited, possession of a firearm without a licence, and failing to comply with a release order.

A warrant has been issued for her arrest and officers are actively trying to locate her.

She is described as 5-4, about 180 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair that may be bleached blonde or orange.
