Charges have been laid in relation to a shooting death in Pinehouse Lake.

An RCMP media release states on Oct. 3 around 2 p.m., police received a report of a shooting just outside of the community. Officers responded and located a seriously injured man, who was transported to the local clinic where he was declared deceased.

He has been identified as 30-year-old Braydon Natomagan from Pinehouse.

An investigation determined an altercation occurred between a group of individuals, a firearm was discharged, and the victim was injured. Two suspects fled from the scene in a vehicle.

Officers began patrolling and observed the vehicle near Beauval. They activated their vehicle’s emergency lights and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued to attempt to flee from police before coming to a stop on an off-road trail. The occupants of the vehicle were then arrested.

Christopher Nolan, 25, has been second degree murder and possessing a firearm while prohibited, while Kelsey Iron is charged with accessory after the fact to murder, flight from police, dangerous driving, and refusal to comply with breath demand.

Both men are scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on October 6.
