Selena Sturmay surges in Olympic curling pre-trials with a double-win day
WOLFVILLE — Selena Sturmay’s team surged to the top of the women’s leaderboard Wednesday in the Home Hardware Curling Pre-Trials with a pair of victories.
Sturmay (4-1) earned a 7-6 victory over Saskatchewan’s Nancy Martin in the morning draw before capturing an 11-5 decision over Saskatoon’s Ashley Thevenot in the afternoon draw.
After winning four in a row, Kayla MacMillan lost 5-4 in an extra end to Myla Plett in the evening to fall into a tie at 4-1 atop the women’s standings with Sturmay.
On the men’s side, Jean-Michel Ménard dumped Mark Kean 8-5 at night to get to a 4-2 record.
