Mild, dry Halloween forecast across Sask as fall warmth lingers

Oct 30, 2025 | 5:00 PM

Party-goers and trick-or-treaters across Saskatchewan can expect a mild, mostly dry Halloween night — conditions that an Environment Canada meteorologist calls “pleasant” for this time of year.

James Colangelo says the Battlefords can expect a mix of cloud and sunshine with a high of plus four and a low of minus two overnight. Winds will come from the south at 20 km/h, with gusts reaching 40 km/h.

“It’ll be fairly nice, a little bit on the cooler side, but still not too, too bad for this time of year,” Colangelo said.

“It should be a fairly good night for the trick-or-treaters… just maybe bundle up a little bit.”

Similar conditions are forecast for nearby communities, with highs near plus two in Prince Albert and plus three in Meadow Lake. Colangelo says a ridge of high pressure is expected to settle across most of Saskatchewan on Thursday, keeping skies mostly clear.

“It’ll be a fairly quiet day weather-wise,” he said. “Maybe a small chance of flurries along the eastern edge bordering Manitoba, but other than that, it should be fairly quiet and nice for tomorrow (Oct.31).”

As the weekend approaches, the weather pattern will shift slightly. A weak trough could bring snow to parts of northern Saskatchewan late Saturday, while central regions — including the Battlefords, Prince Albert and Meadow Lake — might see a brief spell of rain overnight.

“You might see a quick shot of rain from Saturday night into Sunday morning,” Colangelo said. “The further north you go, the higher chance of snow mixed in there. But at this time, I don’t expect any substantial snowfall.”

The mild weather caps off what Colangelo describes as an unusually warm fall across the Prairies.

“Around this time we usually have some snow on the ground, but we’ve been lucky that it hasn’t come yet.”

He says temperatures should stay above freezing across central and southern Saskatchewan for the next week, with no major snow systems in sight.

For those heading out on Halloween night, Colangelo’s advice is simple — check the forecast, stay warm and enjoy it while it lasts.

“It won’t be super cold, but it will be kind of normal-ish,” he said. “Just make sure you’re bundled up, and it should be a very pleasant weekend and Halloween.”
