Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Radiothon

Hearing health for Saskatchewan children amplified by successful radiothon

Nov 6, 2025 | 5:23 PM

What began as a simple fundraiser over 20 years ago has grown into a province-wide, signature event – one that, this year, helped to ensure children across Saskatchewan receive the best possible care when it comes to hearing.

The two-day 2025 Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon presented by CIBC Wood Gundy wrapped up Thursday afternoon after raising a total of $1,119,195.

Radio stations across the province participated in the annual event, while patients, their families and medical staff helped spread the word by sharing stories during the broadcast that provided a glimpse into life within the walls of the children’s hospital.

Among the donors were the Saskatchewan Elks and Royal Purple Fund for Children, which contributed $50,000. Capital Automotive Group also announced a $25,000 gift during the radiothon. Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation donated $10,000. All of the funds raised through businesses, organizations and individuals will be matched by the David and Karen Holst Family Foundation up to $200,000.

This year, money raised will go to support Otology and Otolaryngology. The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation hopes to replace outdated sound booths with two new, fully-functioning, child-friendly booths to increase capacity for pediatric hearing assessments by 60 per cent, reducing waitlists and providing timely care. JPCH is the province’s largest screening site for hearing health, with 450-500 babies tested each month or 15-20 each day. Funds will also be used to strengthen the Cochlear Implant Program, the only one in Saskatchewan, which provides essential surgical and audiological services to over 100 children annually.

Since the first Radiothon, 23 years ago, over $17.42 million has been raised.
