Perched above Lloydminster, ‘Geeks on the Peak’ make final push for TeleMiracle donations

High above the bustle of Highway 16 in Lloydminster, two volunteers are spending nearly a week living on a platform in the winter cold – all to help Saskatchewan residents they may never meet.

The stunt fundraiser, called Geeks on the Peak Revival, is entering its final days, with participants Louis Stang and Ean Bull staying atop a specially constructed platform as donations continue to climb toward their goal.

The challenge runs for six days, beginning at 5 p.m. on Feb. 1 and ending at 5 p.m. on Feb. 6. It takes place in a highly visible location near the statue of Hope at the border crossing, where passersby can spot the platform and watch the fundraiser unfold.

Funds raised through the event go to the Kinsmen Foundation through TeleMiracle, which supports Saskatchewan residents with specialized medical assistance and equipment.

As of the latest update shown on the event livestream Thursday at 1 p.m., the fundraiser had raised just over $67,000, with organizers working toward a $75,000 milestone.

The event is both a test of endurance and a public spectacle. Stang and Bull are living on the platform throughout the challenge, using an igloo-style shelter, sleeping gear and supplies while remaining above ground during the event.

The fundraiser is being broadcast live online through YouTube and Facebook using a multi-camera livestream, allowing supporters to follow along and donate remotely.

The event has also included guest appearances and visits from local schools and sports teams during the week, adding to the community atmosphere surrounding the fundraiser.

In addition to the platform challenge, organizers are planning a TeleMiracle steak night fundraiser on Feb. 7. An igloo structure built for the event will also be auctioned off as part of the fundraising efforts.

The challenge is being led by Stang and Bull, who are also serving as event co-directors, overseeing planning and execution of the fundraiser.
