Pierceland RCMP nab two suspects after they get stuck in the snow in stolen vehicle
A vehicle stolen at gunpoint several days ago was found by Pierceland RCMP on Big Island Lake Cree Nation and recovered after the driver attempted to ram the police.
Officers learned on February 7 at 11:45 a.m. that a vehicle had been stolen in the community at gunpoint the day before. They responded right away with patrols of the area, locating the stolen vehicle at 12:25 p.m. with two people inside, in front of a residence on the West Road in Big Island Lake.
The driver attempted to ram the police vehicle then fled at high speeds. Officers followed it through local streets an onto a wooded trail where it eventually got stuck in the snow.
They arrested 28-year-old Jasmine Wahpistikwan and 27-year-old Damon Kiseyinewakup, both of Big Island Lake Cree Nation are charged with fleeing from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault of a police officer with a weapon and possession of stolen property.
