Canada Post halts delivery in Battlefords, Lloydminster amid severe winter storm

Feb 17, 2026 | 3:10 PM

Mail delivery has been suspended in the Battlefords and Lloydminster as severe winter weather continues to impact parts of Saskatchewan.

Canada Post issued red delivery service alerts for both communities on Tuesday, halting mail delivery for the day due to unsafe conditions. A yellow alert has also been issued for the rest of the province, warning of possible delays.

“The safety of our employees is our number one priority,” the federal Crown corporation said.

A red service alert means delivery agents will not be sent out and any active deliveries may be recalled. A yellow alert indicates Canada Post will attempt to deliver mail where possible, though delays and interruptions are likely, including with mail collection.

Delivery is expected to resume once conditions improve and it is safe for carriers to return to their routes.

Canada Post noted that service alerts can be issued for individual communities or entire provinces depending on the severity and scope of weather events. Updates are posted on its delivery service alerts webpage and through its social media channels.

“We encourage customers to clear the ice from their walkways, stairs, and driveways, to ensure safe access to the front door for both their visitors, as well as their delivery agents, when service resumes,” Canada Post said.

Anyone with questions about mail delivery can contact Canada Post customer service online at canadapost.ca/support or by telephone at 1-866-607-6301 (TTY: 1-800-267-2797).
