Travel not recommended as snowstorm hits Meadow Lake, Buffalo Narrows and area

Drivers across northwest Saskatchewan are being urged to use caution or avoid travel altogether as a winter storm continues to impact highway conditions throughout the region.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Highway Hotline reported that multiple communities are experiencing poor visibility, snow-packed roads and drifting snow, with several areas reporting travel is not recommended. 

In Buffalo Narrows, visibility has dropped to zero amid heavy and swirling snow, with travel not recommended due to loose and packed snow on roadways. 

Similar conditions are being reported in Beauval and Dorintosh, where heavy snowfall and drifting snow are creating dangerous driving conditions.

Goodsoil is also reporting reduced visibility and snow-packed roads, with officials advising against travel as snow drifts and swirling snow continue to impact the area.

In Meadow Lake, roads are covered with loose snow and snow drifts, while poor visibility persists due to blowing and drifting snow. Highway 4 between Glaslyn and Meadow Lake is reporting reduced visibility and snow-packed sections.

Elsewhere, St. Walburg is reporting covered roads with loose and drifting snow, while Green Lake is experiencing reduced visibility and partly covered road surfaces with snow drifts and swirling snow. 

Motorists are encouraged to check the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline for the latest road conditions and consider delaying travel until conditions improve.
