Man charged after fleeing from RCMP on dirtbike in Onion Lake

On March 31, around 12:30 p.m., Onion Lake RCMP received a report of a disturbance outside of a residence in Onion Lake.  

Officers determined that two men approached a home on Sesame Street. One of the men began to strike the door and shout at the people inside. The men did not enter the residence and later left the property. One of them left on a dirt bike.

Soon after, officers located a man on a dirt bike that matched the suspect’s description. When RCMP attempted a traffic stop, the suspect turned down a path that was not passible by the vehicle. Officers continued to make patrols in the area and later located a dirt bike abandoned in a ditch in Onion Lake.

It was seized by RCMP and officers determined the dirt bike was previously stolen from Mervin. 

On April 1, around 9 a.m., RCMP arrested 26-year-old Kendall Cardinal at a residence in Onion Lake. He is charged with…

• one count, flight from peace officer 

• one count, resists/obstruct peace officer 

• one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000 

Cardinal was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Loon Lake RCMP. He appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on April 2 and was remanded until his next appearance on April 8.
