After three separate shows, the curtains have closed for this year’s drama production at Meadow Lake’s Jonas Samson Middle School.

“It was such a success,” said play director Sara Cydejko.

“The kids were absolutely amazing and everything really came together in the end. We did one evening performance for the parents and community, and two for all the schools in the town.”

During the performance: Scarlett, Sloane, Cori, Chloey, Grace, Kase, Harper, Tori, Brinley, Christian, Sutton, Adaline, Raylene, Kailey, Precious, Terry, Aubrey, and Sophie.

In total, the students performed for over 500 community members, bringing laughs as spunky characters from The Lorax entered the stage.

“They were just a little bit nervous, but they were just big smiles in the back and lots of energy. They were just really excited to perform and all that hard work and practice because they’ve been practicing since January,” she said.

Now, it’s time for a fun wrap-up celebration, where the cast and crew will finally get to sit back, enjoy some treats, and watch the full performance come to life.

“It’s going to be really fun just because when you’re backstage, you can’t see very much. So, they’re going to really enjoy getting a chance to see that.”

The response from the community has been glowing, and the students are already eager for more.

“As soon as it was done, they’re like, ‘what’s our next performance?’” Cydejko laughed. “I need some time to relax after that but we’re already starting to think of next year.”
