Canada’s Sarah Mitton repeats as women’s shot put champion at Commonwealth Games
GLASGOW — Canada’s Sarah Mitton successfully defended her women’s shot put title at the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old from Brooklyn, N.S., recorded a winning throw of 19.88 metres on her fifth attempt to take gold by more than two metres.
“I’m pretty proud,” Mitton told Athletics Canada. “Every time you step into the stadium, there’s a chance that it doesn’t go your way and you do everything in your power to make your dreams come true.
“Tonight, to be able to stand on the podium and be a two-time Commonwealth Games champion is, is very special to me.”
