Canadians Arop, Leduc and McCreath fail to advance at Ultimate Championship

BUDAPEST — Three of Canada’s top athletes have been eliminated from their events at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship.

Canada’s Marco Arop finished sixth in the men’s 800 metre semifinal. He completed the race in one minute 44.21 seconds and Ireland’s Mark English won the semi in 1:43.74.

Audrey Leduc of Gatineau, Que., was 14th in the women’s 100-metre semifinal and Sade McCreath of Ajax, Ont., was 17th.

Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia had the best time in the event, finishing in 10.73 seconds.
