“So it was good to get that one, get the win there, double points at that one too. So it brought me up in the standings quite a bit,” he said.

He moved from eighth to sixth in the standings, with 4,405 points and $10,653.55 in season earnings. The circuit takes the top 25 riders to the BRC Finals.

The win came after a summer interrupted by groin injuries. Senger took a month off in July and returned to competition in August.

“I’ve been feeling really good health-wise,” he said, although some groin soreness remains.

“It just comes as part of the game,” he said. “So just make sure I’m stretching, icing, staying as healthy as I can because if you ain’t getting on, you ain’t gonna do no winning.”

In the weeks before Strathmore, Senger placed third at the Renegade Electric Dryden BRC in Dryden, Ont., on Sept. 4 and 5. He completed three rides for a combined 251.5 points, earning $1,496.

He had also placed fourth in Taber, Alta., on Aug. 28 after riding a bull named Steve French.

At a PBR event in Montana on Aug. 22, he went two-for-two to finish second, scoring 85.4 points aboard Coke High and 82.4 on Hoca.

In the PBR Canada standings, Senger is 13th with 296 points and 13 qualified rides in 43 attempts. He won his first PBR Canada title in April, going two-for-two at the Moose Jaw PBR Challenge before a sold-out crowd.

Senger hopes to build on the Strathmore win when he returns to PBR competition at the Peace Country Invitational this weekend and once again be the last cowboy standing.
