History to be made at Rush season opener
This weekend, the Saskatchewan Rush opens its regular season on the road but the team will be missing a couple of faces due to suspensions from the Christmas showcase game.
The Jan. 7 game between the host Georgia Swarm and visiting Rush will also be historic as it will be the first time in any professional sport where four brothers, Jeremy Thompson (Rush), Lyle Thompson (Swarm), Miles Thompson (Swarm) and Jerome Thompson (Swarm) play in the same game.
Both physically and emotionally, on and off the field, Jeremy Thompson said the game will be huge.
“It goes down to a lot of my teachings and how I was brought up,” he said. “And that’s [how] you go into the game, doesn’t matter the name on the back of your jersey or the number, or the team you’re playing for. It’s one of the things we always say we’re playing the game for, it’s for a much bigger purpose and that’s the Creator.”
