Suspect in custody after assault on Big River First Nation sends man to hospital
RCMP have a suspect in custody after an assault on the Big River First Nation left a man in hospital with serious injuries Thursday.
Officers from the Big River RCMP were called to the First Nation yesterday evening. When they arrived at the scene along with paramedics, police said they discovered a 32-year-old man who had “sustained serious injuries as a result of an assault.” The victim was first taken to hospital in Shellbrook, RCMP said, and was then transported by STARS air ambulance to Saskatoon where he remains.
Big River RCMP said a 33-year-old man is in custody in connection with the assault, though no charges have been laid. Police continue to investigate, along with Prince Albert Forensic Identification Services, Saskatoon Major Crime North, and the Prince Albert General Investigations Section.
