Re-Opening of St. Walburg Communiplex

Jan 26, 2017 | 9:52 AM

Saturday, January 21, 2017 was the Re-Opening of the St. Walburg Communiplex.

This began as a small scale project meant to increase accessibility to our Communiplex and address a leak in the bowling alley washroom became a million dollar roof replacement and an interior repair project.

As a result of ice damming in the spring of 2016, the interior of the Communiplex experienced extensive water damage in many areas, which has now been repaired, a new roof installed and a modern handicap entrance was incorporated.

Through insurance coverage, grants, fundraising and donations, St. Walburg was able to complete this project in time for the 2016/2017 season.

Mayor George Prudat started the celebration by thanking former Mayor, A.V. “Tony” Leeson and councillors for recognizing the importance of the Communiplex to our community and initiating the details to ensure completion for fall of 2016.

He then went on to thank the Fundraising Committee that was comprised of active members of the St. Walburg and surrounding area that includes Clare Zeller, Gabe Daigneau, David Larre and Jaime Larre. All donors are recognized for contributions of $100+ on plaques that will be displayed in the Communiplex entrance.

Mayor Prudat gave a sincere thank you to the entire community for their positive support through this project.
Darrell Corkal from Walker Engineering and Ed Hickman of Craftex Builders, assisted with the ribbon cutting, which took place outside the new modern handicap entrance, along with the Town of St. Walburg Mayor, George Prudat. A thank you on behalf of the community was expressed to Craftex Builders for getting us back into our Communiplex for the 2016/2017 season.
