On February 23, the Mervin 4-H Beef Club held their public speaking at the Mervin Complex. The speeches were interesting to listen to! Our public speaking judges were Heidi Potter-Jamieson and Lisa Guenther.

The people that won 1st and 2nd place in their categories had the opportunity to move on to district public speaking if they wanted.

Districts were held on March 4th at Cavalier Agro. The Mervin Club had three members who participated in Districts: Karis Latendresse, Conner Millard and Julianna Millard.

We thank the Edam 4-H clubs for hosting the district public speaking.

On April 15th, our club held their annual Strawberry Tea & Bake Sale at the Mervin Complex.

This year, we decided to do a pie and cake auction for the first time throughout all of our strawberry teas. It was a great success!

The following people are our pie and cake auction winners:  Dale Conacher – cherry pie, Paulette Pavka – lemon torte, Tania Bellanger – peanut butter cake, Jerrad Millard – chocolate caramel poke cake, Gerald Latendresse -blueberry pie, Butch Kendall – Saskatoon pie, Rob Bannerman – Easter basket carrot cake, Roberta Wooff – chocolate cheesecake.

We also had some raffle draws and the winners are:  Conner Bauldic – stuffed bunny, Jean Buan – 4-H cookbook, Diane Macnab – tulips, Ian Pavka – chocolate egg guessing.  Thank you to everyone that tackled the terrible weather and roads to support us at our tea.

On Sunday April 30th, we held a demo day at the farm of Jerrad and Wanda Millard. We learned about judging and what the animals should look like on achievement day. We shut down by rain so we moved to the house to finish up. We discussed our record books, our mini achievement day and finally our Achievement Day.

We would like to invite everyone to come to our Achievement Day which will be held May 27, 2017 at the farm of Rob and Joanne Bannerman.  It starts at 11:00 with lunch at 12:00.  It is always great to see everyone supporting our group!
