Nasal spray no longer an option for kids to fight flu in Sask.
Like it or not, the only option to fight the flu this season is a shot.
The Saskatoon Health Region released information about this fall’s flu campaign and included a note regarding the child-friendly nasal spray option.
“A recent study by the U.S. Center for Disease Control’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, showed that the effectiveness of FluMist vaccine decreased significantly over time,” the region’s website stated.
The committee recommended no longer using FluMist vaccine, which had been an option for children in Saskatchewan the past two years.
