Ali Center theft suspect arrested; Ali artwork still missing
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities say a man has been arrested in Pennsylvania in a brazen art theft from the Muhammad Ali Center in Kentucky.
The U.S. Marshals Service says 58-year-old Gerald Garrett was arrested in Philadelphia on Wednesday. He’s accused of stealing a print of a LeRoy Neiman painting in October.
Authorities say the artwork — showing Ali in a classic pose, in white trunks and red boxing gloves, has not been recovered.
The artwork, valued at $5,000, was stolen from an exhibit while it was open to the public at the Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
