Oil spill forum to conclude with protest in N.B.

Aug 3, 2016 | 5:00 PM

A grassroots protest march will cap off a forum on the recent oil spill tomorrow in North Battleford.

The forum begins at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 4 in North Battleford. Organized by Rod Gopher and Chief Wayne Semaganis, it will open with prayers from elders and comments from local chiefs.

The protest starts at 2 p.m. outside the Whiterock Gas Plus on Highway 4, where the forum is taking place. Protesters will march down 100th Street, turning onto the highway across the Battlefords Bridge.

A program for the event lists segments which will include Husky Oil and Premier Brad Wall, though Wall said he was not invited to the event at a press conference in North Battleford earlier today.
