Youth considered dangerous escapes during Red Pheasant visit
A youth considered dangerous by the Ministry of Corrections has escaped from custody on the Red Pheasant First Nation.
According to the province, the inmate from the North Battleford Youth Centre was on an escorted leave to the Red Pheasant First Nation, south of the Battlefords, on Thursday, July 21, when he escaped from correctional staff at 12:10 p.m.
The youth is not to be approached. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 immediately, or their local police.
The ministry is briefing Regina media on the escape this afternoon afternoon. A spokesperson said officials are currently seeking a court order which will permit identifying the inmate whose name is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
