April 16, The Vanier Way – A new show, entitled “The Vanier Way” premieres April 16 at 11 pm on EWTN Global Catholic Network.  He has been called the ‘Mother Teresa’ of those with special needs with communities established all over the world. In the spring of 2015, a documentary crew followed 10 students from Jean Vanier Catholic High in Milton Ontario to meet their school’s namesake, philosopher and L’Arche founder, Jean Vanier in Trosly, France. The students were immersed in L’Arche culture, working, sharing meals, stories and songs with core members.  In this truly moving story, Jean Vanier teaches the students the true meaning of servant leadership.  Produced by EWTN in association with DunnMedia & Entertainment. Two promo videos are available: 

April 17, Stew and Bannock Fundraiser, Prince Albert – The Knights of Columbus and Society of St. Vincent de Paul both provide service to the poor and marginalized in our city.  In 2013, 209 homes were visited and 60 food hampers were given.  Services were similar in 2014 and 2015.  Please join us for a stew and bannock supper on April 17 at 5:00pm at Sacred Heart Cathedral.  Advance tickets are $10/adults, $8/ages 7-18, children under 6 are free.  Tickets are $12 at the door.  There will be a silent auction and 50/50 draw.  For tickets, call Richard Beaulieu at 306-763-6647 or Henry Siwak at 306-763-5314.

April 23, Prince Albert Catholic Education Foundation Supper – The Spring Gala and silent auction will be held on April 23 at St. Mary High School.  Cocktails at 6:30pm, dinner at 7:00pm.  Tickets are $35.00, table of 8/$280.00.  Contact Jean Oleksuik at 306-764-4099 or 306-961-5662.  Entertainment will be the Prince Albert Children’s Choir. 

April 30, Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Laurent Shrine 6th Annual Fundraiser Supper – Everyone is welcome to join the St. Laurent Shrine’s fundraiser supper on April 30 at St. Mary High School in Prince Albert (380-14 St. West).  Cocktails are at 4:30pm, supper at 5:30pm and the cost is $25/person.  For tickets or information, please call Darlene 306-763-2873 or Sandy 306-929-5436.

May 1, Thanksgiving Ordination Anniversary Concert – You are cordially invited to a thanksgiving concert will be held by Fr. Roque Concepcion on the occasion of his 17th Ordination Anniversary.  It will take place on May 1 at 3:00pm at St. Joseph Parish in Prince Albert. Donations are accepted.  Proceeds will be given to the St. Joseph Refugee Sponsorship Program.

May 11-14, St. Mary High School musical “Godspell” – St Mary High School would like to invite the community to the Upstage Productions’ musical, “Godspell”.  Show times at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. from May 11 to May 14.  Tickets cost $18.00 for adults (ages 19 and over) and $13.00 for students (ages 18 years and under) and are available at the E.A. May 28, 8th Annual Altar Server Appreciation DayCalling all volunteers.  We are looking for a number of volunteers to help in different areas. We are looking for individuals who would be interested in volunteering before and on the day of the event.  Before the event there will be three evenings of preparation on May 12, 19 and 26.  Each evening will be from 7-9pm at the Diocesan Centre at 1415 – 4th Avenue West in Prince Albert.  We are looking for individuals to help in a number of different areas during the event which will be held at Par Place, such as registration, snacks and juice, onsite set-up and clean-up, group activity station leaders.  Please contact Christine Taylor or Andrea Langlois at (306)922-4747 extension 227 or 228 or email us at catechetics@padiocese.ca or programsecretary@padiocese.ca.

June 1, Catholic Health Association of Saskatchewan (CHAS) – It’s Time to Talk… Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide.  The Scriptures teach that life is a precious God-given gift. Our society’s acceptance and potential normalizing of physician-assisted death and euthanasia are worthy of reflection. This presentation will explore the dangers these practices pose to all Canadians, providing participants with the necessary tools to engage in this discussion. Come deepen your understanding of the political situation in Canada, share your stories and questions, and learn more about how you can approach suffering with the compassion of Christ.  Presenter: Mary Deutscher, Ph.D.  The session will be held 7-9:00 pm on Wednesday, June 1 at Mont St. Joseph Home (777- 28 St East, Prince Albert).
